In the Indian state of Bihar, people vote for leaders called Mukhiyas who look after their village.

The current Mukhiyas will finish their term in late 2026.

Before the next election, the government wants to redraw the village boundaries, which is called delimitation.

This might make the election happen a little later than planned.

It could also create more Mukhiya seats, maybe around 60% more, bringing the total to about 13,000.

People who want to run for Mukhiya are already getting ready.

To stand for election, you must be at least 21 years old.

Your name also has to be on the voter list of your village.

You need papers like proof of age, a photo ID, a form signed by another voter, and a declaration about your money and any court cases.

There is even a form saying you have a working toilet at home, so no one in your family goes to the toilet outside.
