Tirupati Collector Urges Public to Build a Cleaner City
Tirupati’s Collector asked everyone to help keep the city clean and healthy.
He said the city makes about 250 tonnes of rubbish each day.
Only 70 to 80 tonnes are processed locally, while the rest goes to a dumping yard.
People can help by separating wet and dry rubbish at home.
The Collector asked residents to spend at least 10 minutes a day doing this.
A large plant is planned to turn waste into energy.
It is expected to be ready by late 2027 or early 2028.
He also said sanitation workers should get health check-ups and safety equipment.
He warned that dirty surroundings can contribute to illnesses such as malaria, dengue and typhoid.
District Collector Dr S Venkateswar urged residents to work together for a clean, healthy and beautiful Tirupati.
He said Tirupati ranked among the country’s top three cities in the Swachh League in 2024 and 2025.
The city generates about 250 tonnes of waste daily, with 70 to 80 tonnes processed locally and the remainder sent to the Ramapuram dumping yard.
A 600-metric-tonne waste-to-energy plant costing more than Rs 300 crore is planned at Ramapuram, with completion expected by December 2027 or January 2028.
The Collector called for household wet-and-dry waste separation and regular health checks and protective equipment for sanitation workers.
