The Uttarakhand Police have taken action against Constable Sher Singh for making inflammatory remarks during a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Constable Sher Singh, who is posted in Pithoragarh district, was already suspended on July 20 for being absent from duty without permission and not responding to a notice from the Superintendent of Police.
He also has a criminal record and was previously jailed in connection with a land encroachment case.
The police have initiated legal and departmental action against him for his remarks at the protest.

Dismissal proceedings against Sher Singh were already underway in connection with the land encroachment case.
Sher Singh is currently out on bail.
