Royals and Chero Win as Knights Stun Marathas on Opening Day
The second season of the Archery Premier League began in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The defending champions, Rajputana Royals, beat Prithviraaj Yodhas 5-3.
Chero Archers also won their match, beating Chola Chiefs by the same score.
The most dramatic match was between Kakatiya Knights and Mighty Marathas.
The Marathas led 4-0, but the Knights fought back and tied the match.
The Knights then won the shoot-off, a short tie-breaker, 2-0.
Several archers received awards for their performances.
Three more matches are scheduled for the league’s second day.
Defending champions Rajputana Royals opened their Archery Premier League Season 2 title defence with a 5-3 win over Prithviraaj Yodhas, repeating last season’s final result.
Chero Archers also won 5-3, defeating Chola Chiefs in the day’s final match.
Kakatiya Knights recovered from 0-4 to level their match with Mighty Marathas at 4-4, then won the shoot-off 2-0.
Knights’ Nico Wiener and Neeraj Chauhan hit the inner X-ring in the shoot-off; Dhiraj Bommadevara was named best recurve archer despite playing only the first two sets.
Ankita Bhakat, Wiener and Andrea Becerra received the day’s best female archer, best compound archer and best female compound archer awards, respectively.
