Mumbai Reports Show Highest Elevated Blood-Sugar Levels Among Five Metros
Loop Health looked at health test reports and survey answers from five big cities.
In Mumbai, 46.8% of the HbA1c reports showed blood sugar in the prediabetes or diabetes range.
That was the highest share among the five cities in the analysis.
The reports also showed that 17.1% were in the diabetes range.
Many Mumbai reports showed low HDL, low haemoglobin, or low vitamin D. The survey found Mumbai had the highest share of short-sleep responses among the five metros.
These results describe the reports and survey answers that were collected, not everyone who lives in Mumbai.
The report also says its lab results and survey responses were collected as separate datasets.
Loop Health’s 2026 analysis found 46.8% of 872 Mumbai HbA1c reports in the prediabetes or diabetes range, the highest share among five metros.
The Mumbai share was 16.1 percentage points above Bengaluru’s and 8.1 points above the overall figure of 38.7% across 7,088 reports.
In Mumbai, 17.1% of reports were in the diabetes range, compared with 13.3% across the full sample.
The analysis also found high rates of low HDL and low haemoglobin, while 76.9% of Mumbai vitamin D reports were below 30 ng/mL.
Loop Health cautioned that the laboratory reports and lifestyle survey are separate datasets and do not measure city-wide health prevalence.
