Jharsuguda Students Shine Through Rapid District Hockey Development

Jharsuguda began organized hockey training for students in 2021.

A coach was appointed to train boys and girls at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.

That school won both divisions in the first district tournament.

Other schools also received trophies or finished as runners-up.

Jharsuguda teams later competed successfully in inter-district tournaments.

In 2023, junior players were given more chances to compete through three zones.

In 2024, several teams reached later rounds, and the district girls’ team finished second in an Odisha inter-school event.

Some students were also selected for Odisha and national school hockey teams.
