NURSICON 2026 Highlights Oncology Nurses’ Expanding Cancer-Care Role
NURSICON 2026 was a two-day meeting about caring for people with cancer.
It was held by Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre in Bengaluru.
The conference explained that oncology nurses do much more than help with treatment.

The conference said nurses need support too because their wellbeing can affect patient care.

Sessions addressed end-of-life ethics, patient rights, systemic therapy, operation theatre safety and paediatric oncology emergencies.
Day two covered preventive oncology, nutrition, bone marrow transplant care, wound management, infection prevention and ostomy management.
Speakers emphasized nurses’ roles in communication, safety, emotional support, rehabilitation, care coordination and caregiver wellbeing.
