Delhi Health Minister Issues Show-Cause Notice Over Medicine Procurement Delay

In Delhi, someone is in charge of making sure hospitals get the medicines, supplies and equipment they need.

That person is the Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, who works for the health minister.

The minister, Pankaj Singh, asked the department to make a plan for buying these supplies.

The plan had to list each item and when it would be purchased.

The minister first asked for this plan on May 26.

Weeks passed without a proper reply.

Reminders were sent on June 17 and July 22.

Still, no real answer was given.

So the minister sent an official letter called a show-cause notice, demanding an explanation by Wednesday.

If the department does not give a good reply, the minister says disciplinary action could be taken against the officers responsible.
