Indian techie's salary leaps from ₹37,000 to ₹2.2 crore package

When he first started working, he earned ₹37,000 every month.
Eleven years later, he earns about ₹2.2 crore a year, which is a huge amount of money.
He did not go to a top-ranked college, but he gained good experience at his early jobs.
He switched companies several times, and each switch usually helped him earn more.
He even started his own company, but licensing problems made it hard to continue, so he went back to working for big companies.
At one point, his job became so stressful that he quit before finding another one.
Later, he joined another big technology company and was promoted.

An Indian software engineer shared on Reddit how his salary grew from ₹37,000 a month to about ₹2.2 crore in 11 years, without a degree from a tier-1 college.
He started in 2015 at a service and consulting company, reached ₹1.1 lakh a month after four years, and secured a ₹44 lakh annual package — a three-fold jump — by switching to a FAANG-level company in 2019.
Overwhelmed by pandemic-era workload and negative news, he quit in mid-2020 without a job offer, then joined a US-based real estate startup and saw his package rise to nearly ₹70 lakh by the end of 2021.
He co-founded a fintech startup as CTO in May 2022, but licensing problems and a departing co-founder made it unsustainable; after a short, 'toxic' leadership role at an Indian startup, he joined a FAANG company in February 2025.
Following a promotion in March 2026 and higher stock compensation, his package now stands at about ₹2.2 crore, which he says 'feels like a flex' compared to tier-1 college graduates.
