Sant Sansad at Iver: Guru, not Google, connects inner self
‘Google can take you to the world, but Guru connects you to yourself’: Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji · easterneye.biz

A large gathering of wise spiritual leaders, known as saints, came together at a temple called Sachkhand Nanak Dham in Iver, UK, for a meeting called a Sant Sansad.

The meeting was led by Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, a respected spiritual teacher from Rishikesh in India.

The saints talked about how important it is to keep Indian culture and good values alive and to pass them on to children and young people.

Swamiji compared Google to a Guru, saying Google can teach you about the outside world, but a Guru can teach you about yourself.

He said young people are the 'now generation' and told parents to teach good values by setting an example rather than by giving long lectures.

He also said young people are not careless — they are sometimes just not cared for enough.

Swamiji said using social media like Facebook is fine, but at the end of the day people should 'face their book,' meaning their good deeds matter most.

Many other saints spoke too, including leaders from the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, agreeing that culture must be passed to the next generation of Indians wherever they live.

This gathering was the third in a series, and the final Sant Sansad will be held at Harrow Leisure Centre on 14 August.
