Ponguleti Rebuts Opposition Claims Over Section 22-A Restrictions
Section 22-A is a government list that limits registration of certain properties.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the list was not newly created by the current government.
He said it has existed since 2007 and was continued by the earlier BRS government.
Some property information was uploaded incorrectly during an online update, but officials later corrected it.
The minister said the total area on the list became smaller between 2023 and 2026.
He also said registration income increased instead of falling.
In several neighborhoods, he said the restrictions had already existed because of government claims or court cases.
Opposition leaders questioned the government’s handling of the list, while Ponguleti rejected their allegations.

He attributed incorrect online property data uploaded on December 3, 2025, to a technical error that was later corrected.
The area covered by the prohibited-property list reportedly fell by 47,440 acres between December 2023 and August 2026.
Ponguleti said registration revenue rose by Rs 1,359 crore in the comparable April-August periods of 2025-26 and 2026-27.
He said restrictions in several disputed areas were pre-existing and cited registrations in Symphony Colony and Saroornagar as evidence that transactions had not completely stopped.
