The Central Government has given the green light for Kerala to start admitting 100 new MBBS students at the K Karunakaran Memorial Government Medical College.

This decision came after a meeting between Kerala's Health Minister, K Muraleedharan, and the Union Health Minister, J P Nadda.

The Union Minister also promised to set up an AIIMS in Kerala and help upgrade the state's mental health centers.

Additionally, the Central Government will support the administration of the HPV vaccine to girls and enhance the coverage under the Centre's health insurance scheme.

The state also requested more funds for the National Health Mission and medicines for non-communicable diseases, which the Union Minister agreed to consider.
