Lok Adalat Settles Over 23,000 Cases Across Jammu and Kashmir
A Lok Adalat is a special meeting that helps people solve legal disagreements quickly and peacefully.
Jammu and Kashmir held its third National Lok Adalat of the year.
It took place across the Union Territory on September 12.
Judges and legal officials worked through thousands of cases.
They considered 32,908 cases in total.
Of these, 23,213 were settled or disposed of.
The agreements involved more than Rs 176 crore in settlements and compensation.
The cases included road accident claims, family disputes, unpaid bills and cheque disputes.

Officials said 23,213 cases were amicably settled or disposed of.
The settlements and compensation amounted to Rs 1,76,22,29,397, or over Rs 176 crore.
Cases included accident claims, family and civil disputes, cheque dishonour matters, recoveries and compoundable criminal offences.
