Assam Flood Safety: Study Urges Floodplain Zoning and Timely Dam Releases
Imagine a big river in a place called Assam.
Sometimes, when it rains a lot, the river can overflow and flood nearby towns and farms.
There are also big dams built to make electricity, but sometimes these dams have to release a lot of water very quickly.
This extra water can make the floods even worse for people living downstream.
