Delhi child rights panel logs 377 complaints, 38 POCSO cases

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights received 377 complaints after it was reconstituted in July.

The largest group of complaints was about children’s right to education.

There were also complaints about juvenile justice, child safety, missing children, child labour, and health.

Thirty-eight complaints involved the POCSO law, which protects children from sexual offences.

The commission also began investigating some matters on its own.

It asked police for an update about an alleged rape involving a 17-year-old girl.

The commission plans to teach children and adults about safety and reporting abuse.

It also launched a helpline and is preparing a campaign to help children involved in begging return to education.
