India’s junior women’s hockey team started its title defence with a win.
They beat South Korea by four goals to one in China.

Madhu scored the fourth goal in the final quarter.
South Korea scored once near the end of the game.
India held on to win and earned three points.

India defeated South Korea 4-1 in their opening match of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup China 2026 in Moqi.
Sanika Chandrakant Mane, Purnima Yadav, Puja Sahoo and Madhu Sidar scored for India.
India led 2-0 at halftime after goals in the eighth and 30th minutes.
Madhu Sidar made it 4-0 in the 51st minute before South Korea scored through KIL Gabin in the 57th minute.
India, the defending champion and winner of the last two editions, will next play Malaysia on Sunday.
