In the summer of 2026, the United Kingdom had very hot weather that caused almost 3,000 people to die from heat.

The UK Health Security Agency counted 2,877 deaths in just May and June, almost as many as the record 2,985 deaths in 2022.

The heat was so high that temperatures went above 35 °C, and the Met Office warned people about the danger.

Older people and those with health problems were the most at risk, and the NHS and firefighters had to help many people.

The government also warned about a disease called cyclosporiasis that has spread to 67 people, mostly travelers from Mexico.
