Modi-Putin Talks to Cover S-400 Deliveries, BrahMos Upgrades
Narendra Modi and Vladimir Putin are meeting in New Delhi to discuss military cooperation.
They will talk about India receiving its final S-400 air-defense squadron.
India bought five S-400 regiments from Russia, and four are already working.
The last one was delayed because of the Russia-Ukraine war.
Russia says it will complete the delivery by November 2026.
The leaders will also discuss improving the BrahMos missile.
A newer version, called BrahMos-NG, is smaller and can be carried by more fighter jets.
The two countries are also working together to produce BrahMos missiles.
Russia remains India’s largest arms supplier, although its share has fallen.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin will discuss S-400 deliveries and BrahMos development in New Delhi on Friday.
Russia says it will fulfil its commitments, including delivery of India’s fifth S-400 squadron by November 2026.
India bought five S-400 Triumf regiments for $5.43 billion in 2018; four have been delivered and are operational.
The BrahMos-NG is described as a lighter, faster missile with a range exceeding 400 kilometres and compatibility with several Indian fighter jets.
Russia accounted for 40% of India’s arms imports from 2021 to 2025, down from 51%.
