University of Hyderabad Honours 25 Oggu Katha Artists for Heritage
The University of Hyderabad held a special programme for Oggu Katha artists.
Oggu Katha is a traditional storytelling and folk-art form from Telangana.
Twenty-five artists were honoured for helping keep it alive.
People from universities, media, film and cultural organisations attended.
A documentary called Gods in the Voice was shown to explain the art form to more people.
Folk artists also performed songs from Telangana.
Before the main event, more than 30 students took part in a Bathukamma workshop.
The programme encouraged people to record these traditions and teach them to younger generations.
