Adani Group proposes ₹16,000-crore titanium plant in Andhra Pradesh

A big business group called the Adani Group wants to build a very large factory in Srikakulam, a district in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.

The factory would cost around ₹16,000 crore, which is a huge amount of money.

Karan Adani, who leads one of the group's companies, went to meet the Chief Minister of the state, Chandrababu Naidu.

They talked about how special sand from the beach can be turned into useful materials.

The sand contains a mineral called ilmenite, which can be made into titanium products.

These products are used to make paint, cosmetics, plastics and sun-protection products.

The company also wants to build a data centre, an IT park, a university, an international school, a big hospital and a medical college in Visakhapatnam.

The Chief Minister said the state should process its own minerals instead of sending them away as raw material.

This would help India depend less on other countries for rare earth minerals.
