NCP stages symbolic inauguration of Bhiwandi's BGP Hospital, demands opening
There is a new hospital in Bhiwandi called the BGP Hospital.
The building is finished and it has all the medical equipment and staff it needs.
But the city leaders have not officially opened the hospital yet, even though it has been ready for several months.
Some people from a group called the NCP were upset because sick residents cannot use the hospital.
So on Friday, they held a pretend opening ceremony and cut the ribbon at the hospital's entrance.
The leader of the protest, Pravin Patil, said the hospital is fully ready and that people should not have to wait any longer.
He also explained that the city lost its old public hospital when the IGM Hospital was handed over to the state government.
The old BGP clinic was closed about five years ago so the new hospital could be built in the same spot.
The NCP is asking the city's municipal corporation to finish the paperwork and open the hospital for everyone as soon as possible.
NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) workers staged a symbolic inauguration of Bhiwandi's BGP Hospital on Friday.
Party workers cut the ribbon at the hospital entrance to protest alleged administrative delay by the civic body.
Pravin Patil, President of the NCP Bhiwandi City Unit, said the hospital is structurally complete, equipped and staff recruitment is done.
Patil noted BNCMC has no functional municipal hospital since the IGM Sub-District Hospital was transferred to the Maharashtra Government.
The old BGP dispensary was closed nearly five years ago to build the new hospital, which remains shut.
