Songjeong Makgeolli Festival to run October 16-17 in Donghae

The fifth Songjeong Makgeolli Festival will run October 16-17 at the plaza by Donghae Station in Donghae, Gangwon Province, South Korea.

The festival connects Songjeong-dong’s history and culture with makgeolli, a traditional Korean rice-based alcoholic drink.

Visitors can watch performances, try games using makgeolli bottles and take part in a drink-making activity.

The program also includes displays about Songjeong’s past and local makgeolli and multicultural food to sample.

Organizers are offering train-tour packages linked with Korail to attract visitors from outside the area.

The city hopes the festival will raise awareness of local drinks, bring in tourists and support the local economy.
