US suspends sanctions to allow Russian diesel imports
Trump said Russia would send 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately, with another 500,000 tonnes due in November.
The US suspended sanctions to allow the exports.
Diesel prices in the US have risen above $6 a gallon amid the Iran war, adding pressure on Trump before November’s congressional elections.
The promised shipments are small compared with global diesel use, so they may not lower prices much.
