Demetrio Crisantes Starts Strong in Arizona Fall League

Demetrio Crisantes, a 22-year-old second baseman in the Arizona Diamondbacks system, has started the Arizona Fall League strongly.

Playing for the Salt River Rafters, he has eight hits in 20 at-bats, including a triple and two doubles.

The Tucson native was drafted by Arizona in 2023 and has hit .312 across his professional career.

This past season, he batted .296 with 10 home runs across three levels, reaching Triple-A.

His development has been interrupted by two Tommy John surgeries and later hamstring and shoulder injuries.

The Diamondbacks are watching his Fall League performance as they assess his progress and whether they would feel comfortable trading second baseman Ketel Marte this offseason.

The sources do not say whether a trade will happen.

He has really hit when he’s been healthy, and how he looks in the AFL might help inform whether the D-backs feel comfortable trading Ketel Marte this offseason. He’s arguably the most important eval in the entire league.

My bat-to-ball skills have always been pretty good, and I’ve always worked on that with my dad back home. I am trying to lean into my power a little more as I get older, but that’s something I always go back to: my bat-to-ball skills.
