Pentagon raises US military death toll in Iran war to 21

The Pentagon’s casualty database now lists 21 US military deaths since the war with Iran began on February 28.

The previous public total was 18.

The updated figure includes two deaths newly classified as noncombat: Army Maj.

Sorffly Davius, who died in Kuwait in March, and a Navy sailor who died by suicide in September.

The Pentagon had acknowledged Davius’s death earlier, but added it to the database later.

The update follows reports from US officials that the military’s public count had been lower than the actual toll, claims Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had rejected.

Two senior Democrats on the House Armed Services Committee criticized the delay.

The sources do not say what steps, if any, the Pentagon will take next.
