Business groups warn planned plastic tax could raise shopping costs

Germany is considering a tax on plastic packaging from July 2027.

Thirty-two business groups and organizations say companies could pass the cost on through higher prices.

The groups also warn the tax would add paperwork and require more customs staff.

The tax has not been agreed within the governing coalition.
