Serbia faces Nations League stadium ban for Germany match

UEFA has ordered Serbia to play its Nations League match against Germany on November 13 without spectators, under the current ruling.

The match is due to take place at Red Star Belgrade’s stadium in Serbia.

The sanction follows racist and discriminatory behaviour by Serbian fans at matches against Greece and the Netherlands.

Serbia’s football federation says it will try to have the punishment reduced.

It has proposed allowing children and 2,000 German fans, but no plans for a limited crowd have been confirmed.

Germany has five points and is third in its group, behind the Netherlands and Greece on eight points each.

The top two teams advance to the quarter-finals, so Germany needs a win to improve its chances; Serbia has no points and is last.
