Dammam truck parking project is 86% complete, set to open within 60 days
A truck parking project on the Dammam-Riyadh highway in Saudi Arabia is 86% complete, and the Eastern Province Municipality plans to open it within 60 days.
The two sites are about 16 kilometres from Dammam’s entrance and cover a total of 330,000 square metres.
Together, they can hold 1,040 trucks.
More than 10,000 truck trips take place daily in the Dammam urban area, creating a need for designated places to wait, including when trucks are barred from entering the city.
A committee involving traffic safety, road security and traffic authorities will manage the sites and organize trucks heading to logistics facilities and King Abdulaziz Port.
The project aims to reduce random roadside parking, ease traffic pressure and improve road safety.
