The seventh International Conference on Disability and Rehabilitation opened in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for a three-day program running from October 11 to 13.

Riyadh Region Governor Prince Faisal bin Bandar opened it on behalf of King Salman.

Its organizers highlighted emerging technologies, especially artificial intelligence and stem cell technologies.

One project under discussion would link disability records, services and digital platforms in a unified national system.

The event also includes an award for disability research and an AI hackathon, where 159 finalist teams are developing technology to support independence and quality of life.

Sessions and workshops will cover topics including genomic research, assistive technology, rehabilitation and inclusive access.
