Hatay resident moves into a rebuilt home on Antakya’s Atatürk Street
Bülent Artun has moved into a new home on Atatürk Street in Antakya, in Turkey’s Hatay province.
Hatay was badly damaged in earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş.
Artun said he had not imagined he would be able to return to Antakya after the destruction.
The street was rebuilt as part of a wider construction effort across 11 provinces, coordinated by the environment and urbanisation ministry with TOKİ and Emlak Konut GYO.
The work has completed 5,933 independent sections, including homes for people entitled to new housing.
Artun said he now lives in his home and described the city as having begun to live again.
