Trump says Russia will send diesel to US and global markets
US President Donald Trump said Russia had agreed to send more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel immediately to US and global markets.
He said the agreement followed what he described as successful talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump also said Russia would send three million tonnes within a short time, depending on the condition of its diesel refineries.
He said a further 500,000 tonnes would be supplied in November, followed by another one million tonnes.
The US Treasury said it had issued a temporary licence allowing Russian diesel to be supplied to global markets immediately.
The planned deliveries could add diesel supplies to markets in the United States and elsewhere.
The timing and quantities of later deliveries depend partly on the condition of Russian refineries.
