Russia’s official dollar rate falls to 84.9 rubles

Russia’s Central Bank lowered the official dollar rate to 84.9 rubles for October 10 and 11, down from 85.42 rubles on October 9.

The official euro rate fell to 94.97 rubles, and the yuan rate dropped to 12.67 rubles.

These rates are set by the central bank and indicate how much rubles the currencies are worth officially.

On October 8, Sberbank finance chief Taras Skvortsov said the ruble was likely to stay near its current level in 2026.

He said he saw no major factors likely to push it lower, citing current oil prices.

He expected the ruble to weaken by a few percent in 2027, without sharp swings.

Separately, Russia’s Finance Ministry plans to spend 279.42 billion rubles buying foreign currency and gold between October 7 and November 6 under its budget rule.
