NASA posts more than 800GB of Artemis II science data online
NASA has published more than 800GB of data from its Artemis II mission on a website called Sights & Sounds of Science.
The collection includes more than 11,000 photos and videos, over 8.5 hours of audio, and images annotated by the crew.
Some annotations show where astronauts saw flashes of light from impacts on the Moon’s dark side.
The crew also recorded themselves telling the ground team in Houston about the flashes.
Such flashes have been seen before, but these may have been among the faintest observed by human eyes.
NASA also released three documents to help people understand and use the data, including preliminary and operational science reports and a user guide.
The material gives the public and researchers a detailed record of the mission’s lunar observations.
