Palermo remembers Maradona on the anniversary of his goal against Peru
Martín Palermo marked the 17th anniversary of his goal against Peru by sharing a photo of himself with Diego Maradona.
The picture showed the two embracing in heavy rain after the match at Buenos Aires’ Monumental stadium.
Palermo wrote, “A day I will never forget!!!
Thank you, Diego.”
Maradona was Argentina’s coach at the time.
Palermo scored late in a 2-1 win over Peru during qualifying for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
The win was important to Argentina’s effort to qualify for the tournament.
