China tax measures and weaker US demand pressure luxury goods sector
China is asking some wealthy people to disclose tax obligations and pay taxes owed from earlier years by October 22.
That may lead some to delay expensive purchases.
At the same time, US luxury spending has fallen for three months in a row through August.
Chinese consumers account for about one-fifth of luxury purchases worldwide, so weaker demand could delay the sector's recovery.
