Josh Frydenberg leaves door open to return to Australian politics
Former Australian treasurer Josh Frydenberg has left open the possibility of returning to politics.
He lost the Melbourne seat of Kooyong nearly five years ago and has not decided whether to contest it again.
Kooyong is now held by independent MP Monique Ryan.
Liberal Deputy Leader Jane Hume welcomed a possible return, but said Frydenberg would serve under party leader Angus Taylor.
Other Liberal MPs said the party should focus on rebuilding and holding the Labor government to account rather than waiting for Frydenberg.
Frydenberg says he supports Taylor, while arguing the Liberals need to reclaim the political centre and win back metropolitan seats.
His suggestion of a national debate about raising the goods and services tax has been rejected by Taylor and Victoria Liberal leader Jess Wilson.

What people are saying
I have not “made any decision about my political future
I think he'd make a terrific addition to Angus Taylor's team.
We have to hold this Labor government to account now
The last thing Victorians need is to see the price of everything go up, so I don't support it.
