99 military and police candidates elected in Brazil, up from 94 in 2022

More military and police candidates won seats in Brazil’s 2026 election than in 2022: 99, compared with 94.

They made up 8% of the candidates in this group, the same share as in 2018.

The total number of military and police candidates fell from 1,924 in 2022 to 1,233.

The results suggest that these candidates remain a strong presence in politics, even as fewer ran.
