Paul Seixas races mountain bikes hours after historic Il Lombardia win
Paul Seixas won Il Lombardia, a major one-day road race in Italy, with a solo attack on the Civiglio climb.
At 20 years and 16 days old, he became the race’s youngest winner.
About 15 hours later, the French rider started the Roc d’Azur mountain bike race in Fréjus, France.
He finished 64th, 18 minutes behind winner Jordan Sarrou.
Seixas said he entered to enjoy riding, not to compete for the result.
When the course became technical and he saw other riders were racing seriously, he moved aside and let them pass.
He later rode the course at an easy pace with Bruno Armirail.
His back-to-back rides show his interest in both road and mountain biking; the sources give no further plans.

This story does not have two clearly opposing sides.
I wanted to have fun. At first I stayed with the group, until the course became too technical. I realised there were guys there to compete and I didn't want to get in the way. On the first descent I realised I didn't have the technical ability to keep their pace, so I moved aside and let them pass.
It was nice, I enjoyed myself and rode at an easy pace.
