Hurricane Simon and cold front to bring heavy rain across Mexico

Several weather systems are expected to bring heavy rain to parts of Mexico from Monday, October 12, through Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

They include Hurricane Simon, cold front number 2 and tropical wave 43.

Simon is forecast to bring the heaviest rain to Sinaloa and Nayarit on Monday, then move toward southern Sinaloa and possibly weaken to a tropical storm on Tuesday.

Chihuahua and Durango are also forecast to receive very heavy rain, while rain is expected across central, southern and southeastern Mexico.

Mexico City and the State of Mexico are forecast to have heavy rain on all three days, with 25 to 50 millimeters of rainfall.

The rain could come with lightning, strong wind gusts and hail, while Simon is also expected to bring strong winds and high waves to the coasts of Sinaloa and Nayarit.

The forecast through Wednesday calls for Simon’s remnants and other weather systems to keep bringing rain, with the heaviest totals shifting to northern states.
