Standard Chartered launches custody for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin
Standard Chartered has launched a custody service for RLUSD, a stablecoin issued by Ripple.
The service is for eligible institutional clients through the bank’s branch in Dubai’s financial centre, which is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
It supports RLUSD on the XRP Ledger.
Standard Chartered has also partnered with Ripple and trading platform LMAX to let RLUSD serve as trading collateral.
Under the arrangement, the collateral’s value can be recognised without sending the tokens to LMAX.
This may give institutions a way to use RLUSD in trading while keeping it in custody.
Commercial availability is expected to roll out after final paperwork and regulatory approvals.
