Amazon CEO says outside shopping agents are not yet convenient
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said outside shopping agents are not yet a concern because few customers use them.
He made the comments to investors after Amazon blocked Meta’s Muse from its online store, saying it broke the store’s terms of use.
Shopping agents let people buy without visiting a retailer’s website or app, which can reduce exposure to ads that help drive Amazon’s profits.
Jassy said these agents did not cause Amazon’s weaker-than-expected advertising performance in the third quarter.
Amazon says more than 400 million customers used Alexa for shopping in the past year, and US customers using it spend more per order on average.
Meta says more than 10 million people in the US and Canada set up Muse after its September launch, and shopping is its most common use.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company would work with businesses on terms that suit them.

still not great, nor more convenient than coming to a retailer directly.
Obviously, not everyone wants to be an early adopter. That’s fine.
