Madhoo backs Rashmika Mandanna over criticism of her South Indian accent

Rashmika Mandanna faced criticism for her Hindi pronunciation after appearing on the talk show Koffee with Karan.

The Indian actress said she did not see her South Indian accent as a problem, because she is from southern India.

Actress Madhoo supported her in a video posted on social media, praising how she handled the comments.

Madhoo recalled that when she began working in Hindi cinema, she tried to hide her own accent and worked to improve her Hindi.

She said it took her 30 to 35 years to embrace her identity and feel comfortable with her accent.

Screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar had also defended Rashmika, and no further action on the criticism was reported.
