SonicFox Withdraws From Nexcon Over AI-Generated Promo

Fighting game pro SonicFox withdrew from Nexcon 2026 after seeing promotional art made with AI that used their likeness.

The convention is a gaming, anime and creator event held in Norman, Oklahoma.

SonicFox said using their likeness this way was disrespectful and ended their contract to appear as a special guest.

Organizer Ty Bailey took responsibility for using AI and apologized, saying the team had no money to hire artists.

Bailey asked SonicFox to reconsider, but said the convention would go ahead.

SonicFox accepted the apology but will not attend, and suggested using the contract money to hire artists.

They may reconsider attending next year if the organizers do so.
