Nu México reports August loan figures after becoming a bank

Nu México began operating as a bank in Mexico on August 6, 2026.

Figures from Mexico’s banking regulator, the CNBV, show its loan performance in August, its first month as a bank.

Delinquency was 8.37% for personal loans and 6.46% for credit cards.

The figures also show Nu México had assets of 112.6 billion pesos and consumer loans totaling 33.0 billion pesos.

The figures come as Nu enters a market with strong competition from established banks.

The company is also changing its leadership: Estephany Paulette Ley is due to replace Armando Herrera as chief executive in November.

Herrera will support the transition until January 2027, while Rodrigo Kuri has taken over as chair of the Mexican subsidiary’s board.
