Oil rises as hurricane disrupts Gulf of Mexico production
Oil prices rose as a hurricane threatened production in the Gulf of Mexico.
Producers had halted 72% of oil output in the affected area, up from about 63% the day before.
The Gulf region supplies about 15% of U.S. oil production, so outages could tighten supply.
Gold prices also rose.
