Xolos draw 2-2 with Toluca as coach is sent off

Tijuana and Toluca drew 2-2 in a Liga MX Apertura 2026 match at Toluca’s Estadio Nemesio Diez on October 21.

Toluca came back from behind to lead 2-1, but Xolos recovered to earn a point away from home.

Xolos assistant Sergio Almaguer said a foul was missed on Tijuana’s Yael Padilla before Toluca scored its second goal; that is the coaching staff’s view of the play.

Coach Sebastián Abreu was sent off after entering the field to protest, and Almaguer called the decision too severe.

The disputed goal and red card left Tijuana frustrated, though Almaguer praised the team’s tactical effort and response.

The draw gave Xolos a boost, but the team still needs results to strengthen its push for the Liguilla, Mexico’s end-of-season playoffs.

Tijuana’s next listed match is at home against Santos on October 25.

We are upset because we work very hard during the week to get a result and, when you already have it, an error, as we see it, hurts us.
