India beat New Zealand after Abhishek Sharma urged champions' mindset

Abhishek Sharma urged India to play like world champions before their first T20I against New Zealand.

He said India had made mistakes in the previous home series by treating West Indies as friends rather than opponents.

India had drawn that five-match series 2-2, with both teams winning two games.

At Hagley Oval in Christchurch, India chased New Zealand's target of 226 in 19.4 overs, losing six wickets.

The four-wicket win was India's highest successful T20I chase.

The win gave India a 1-0 lead in the five-match series, which is set to continue.
