Vank launches campaign to check AI answers about Dokdo
South Korean civic group Vank has launched a campaign asking people to check how generative AI describes Dokdo.
The campaign begins ahead of Dokdo Day on Oct.
25.
Dokdo is controlled by South Korea, but Japan also claims the islands, which it calls Takeshima.
Vank says some online information mislabels Dokdo or presents it only as a territorial dispute, and it worries that AI may repeat those errors.
Participants are asked to question AI services about Dokdo in different languages and record any inaccurate answers.
They can then compare the answers with Vank’s materials and ask the service to correct them.
Vank wants people worldwide to help improve AI answers and share information about Dokdo through videos and local networks.
The campaign is intended to strengthen international understanding of South Korea’s claim and the islands’ historical context.
