Ticino dismisses two police officers amid criminal investigations
Ticino’s government has dismissed two cantonal police officers with immediate effect after internal investigations.
Both officers are suspected of sharing confidential information with third parties, among other alleged offences.
The information may have included details about a 2023 road crash involving Norman Gobbi, a member of Ticino’s government.
The case is sensitive because Gobbi was responsible for the cantonal police at the time, and investigators examined whether he received preferential treatment after the crash.
Two police managers were acquitted in 2025 over allegations that they helped Gobbi, and those acquittals became final in January 2026.
The current criminal proceedings against the two dismissed officers are still ongoing, and they are presumed innocent.
The government’s dismissal decisions are not yet final.
