Michael Douglas Says Marvel Would Not Let Him Leave Ant-Man

Michael Douglas says he wanted to leave Marvel after two Ant-Man films but the studio would not let his character go.

He plays Hank Pym, the original Ant-Man, who helps Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang take on the role.

Douglas first appeared as Pym in the 2015 film Ant-Man and later returned in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Endgame and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

He said he asked for Pym to die in Quantumania and suggested a dramatic scene involving the character shrinking and exploding.

Douglas had first joined Marvel because he wanted to try acting on a green screen, but later said the work was difficult and he felt he could not get out of it.

Marvel kept Pym in later films despite Douglas’s request, though the sources do not say whether Douglas will appear in another Marvel movie.
